Mathematics & Science Immersion Programs
Due to hiring needs, we are able to offer Mathematics Immersion and Science Immersion programs to Partner Teachers who did not major in mathematics or science but who do have a strong academic background in these subject areas. The Mathematics Immersion and Science Immersion programs allow Partner Teachers to make up the deficient coursework required for New York State certification in their content area over the course of their graduate program.
To be eligible for our Mathematics Immersion program, candidates must have earned a B- or better in at least one college level Calculus course (or a 4 or 5 on an AP Calculus exam).
To be eligible for our Science Immersion program, candidates must have earned 12 credits of college level coursework in the sciences or 9 science credits within a single science core area (biology or chemistry).
Math and Science Immersion Partner Teachers begin training two weeks before their peers in order to begin immersing themselves in content area specific university coursework.
